SYNOPSIS

Wilhemeina "Mimi" Calhoun is in a tizzy. Mimi's home is in disarray as a news crew sets up camera equipment ahead of a sit-down with Mimi and her granddaughter, Riley. She's hunting for a family heirloom, her grandmother's earrings, to complete the polished look for today's interview. Riley conveniently produces the pearls, quickly calming Mimi, who suddenly has second thoughts about the conversation, which has caused irritation inside and out. Mimi's skin breaks out in hives at the thought of putting herself out there for the world to critique. Riley assures her grandmother that the interview will be beneficial. Briefly disarmed by the charm of the show's producer, Emma, Mimi's hallucinations are hard to suppress as outsiders occupy their home, leaving Riley unable to maintain their pristine image. Once the interview gets underway, the ghosts of Mimi's past challenge her Southern heritage and devout religious beliefs. Today, the truth about Mimi's double life exposes what lurks in the shadows.

Porcelain Shadows is a 15-minute Southern Gothic proof of concept short film.
